Texas @GovAbbott says it has reached a deal w/the Governor of the Mexican state of Nuevo León that will stop additional truck inspections by Texas at the TINY section of border both share. Texas inspections have caused US $100 million in trade losses per Mexico’s private sector. 2/ The vast majority of Texas/Mexico trade flows through ports of entry in other Mexican states. Governor Abbott says he will try to reach “security deals” with other Mexican border Governors (Tamaulipas, Coahuila & Chihuahua) so that he can lift his additional inspections order.

Interesting scoop by Axios on Salazar being vetted as US Ambassador to Mexico. Less impressive is the usual Beltway tendency to tie Mexico’s relevance for the US to just border security.
