Here's a bit (lot!) of a thread to attempt to explain to John and others like him who are incredulous that they get the blame for the 2019 Labour defeat and can't understand why so many people are angry with them: The Guardian has a range of voices. But for a while it seemed to publish many more Freedland, Harris, Toynbee and Cohen than Jones and, err, oh.

I decided to find out for myself because I don't know about anyone else but accusations of this magnitude need a little bit more than just vibes that Keir = hero, Corbyn= bad man.
As you might expect, it's laughable. Thread: Here's the EHRC action plan. Unfortunately a lot of it is pure vibes. Let's see what only such a committed anti-racist like Keir could do that bad man Jeremy wouldn't. Image

@nytopinion @JonathanPieNews Dear Americans,
This is a pretty good summation of what's happened in the UK over the past few years. Here's more.
1979, Thatcher started dismantling the UK's social fabric and empowering media oligarchs like Rupert Murdoch. @nytopinion @JonathanPieNews The Conservatives (Tories) held onto power until 1997 when Tony Blair rebranded Labour as New Labour (all the Tory greed people liked with a bit of a social conscience) and stayed in power until 2010 when Gordon Brown took the blame for the *global* financial crisis.

Why Labour won't win the next general election:

The 'red wall' isn't coming back.

Small thread/ If you look at historical data for some of the 'traditional' Labour seats which were lost in the 2019 election, it's clear the loss had been a long time in the making. Here's Blythe Valley since 1950. Image

If I had to pick a single pivotal moment in British politics, this would be it.
Parliament was paralysed, Labour were voting everything down, Tories couldn't get anything through.
A last ditch attempt to find a quorum: indicative votes on who would support what type of brexit: Image The most 'in the middle' form of brexit is right there. A customs union. Solves many of the issues with Ireland and opens up many possibilities for single market access.
The Lib Dems and Lib Dems calling themselves TIG refused to back anything but a 2nd referendum. Image

The Corbynistic Case For Revoking Article 50 (thread)

We’re in a right old pickle. The EU referendum in 2016 wasn’t planned properly, everyone assumed remain would win, and it promised something that couldn’t actually be done – leaving the EU. I mean, we’re not going to leave are we? There’s no way it can be done. We’re in a kind of limbo at the moment. Like the guy who’s bought an expensive bike without telling his wife and any day now it’s going to arrive on the doorstep.
