Just compared some salary trends between Chennai and Luru and for same roles with similar experience, Luru pays 40% more. It could be niche technologies not available in Chennai, but still the difference is stark . And Hyd, Gurugram eclipsing Chennai is no surprise ! Salary upwards of 20+ L is really becoming sparse and 25+ is like a rare occurrence for senior roles. Essentially these are non-existence in Chennai market. Probably good time for start ups and others to shift to Chennai barring the infra/water challenges !
