“Taxpayer” is the language of individualism & grievance. It falsely suggests that public spending is or mirrors private spending. And genocide would still be objectionable it it was bankrolled by corporations directly (instead of indirectly, thru gov contracts, as it is now)
It is public money, not “our tax dollars,” funding this genocide. And that public money is largely flowing through US weapons corporations. We should keep the focus on the government & companies responsible, not individualizing things to “taxpayers” who didn’t choose this

The author argues that we have to shed an “irritating” approach to politics that is insular and assumes the self-evidence of our critique for one premised on solidarity. That’s all well & good. But seeing that as “Unlearning the language of ‘Wokeness’”?
