Thread on how trump propaganda has made its way to the Columbia Journalism Review.
1/ Inexplicably, @CJR published a 23K-word series that engineers a maximally dishonest revisionist history to blame the press for "Russiagate" and promote the MAGA line that it was a hoax.
2/ It is an astonishingly biased and duplicitous piece of RW propaganda from the most unexpected of places, the review (FD: published at my alma mater) that, after all, positions itself as the arbiter of press rectitude. cjr.org/special_report…
1/ I've flown commercially in the crash area for many years. When the crash occurred, I tweeted a first impression, that the crash bore the hallmarks of something called a CFIT event.
2/ Controlled Flight Into Terrain is when a properly functioning aircraft is flown, under control, into the ground. Not uncommon when someone suddenly enters clouds.

For Republicans, the impeachment of Trump is not really about impeaching Trump. With some exceptions along the Barr-Nunes-Jordan Axis of Vile, they loathe him personally. Stands to reason they are fighting for something they do care about.
A thread on what that is.
Sure, there are individual GOPers protecting themselves because they are complicit in actual treason or merely corrupt, but that doesn’t explain the maximum effort seen in the broader institutional support for Trump.

What make the most sense re: Trump-Ukraine:
Putin, as early as Helsinki, commands Trump to transfer election blame to Ukraine. Success would mean ending Russian sanctions. Solid proof not needed, just enough fog to give pro-Putin senators like Red Paul and Graham ammo.
It would be easy. Into Trump’s simpleton mind Putin plants two seeds. One, that Putin can provide the means to legitimize his election by proving USIC/Mueller wrong, even if they weren’t.That’s one carrot, Trump Tower Moscow likely another. SUBPOENA THE INTERPRETER, DEMS.
