Some of Catherine of Siena’s lesser known quotations:

“Love follows knowledge." -Dialogue 1

"One who knows more, loves more." -Dialogue 66

"We trust and believe in what we love." -Dialogue 8 “And the eternal Father said, 'And if anyone should ask me what this soul is, I would say: She is another me, made so by the union of love.'" -Dialogue 96

Some would like to paint Catherine as a fiery rebel, and in some ways this is perhaps true. but her greatest virtue, beyond mystic experiences, is her love and the obedience she feels for the Church. 1/4 Below is an excerpt where she calls the Church God’s wine cellar, the source of that wine which so wonderfully inebriates us in the Eucharist. This gift comes only from Christ, the Church, the Pope and the priests.

The Church’s good is the good of the world. 2/4

“Limbo” By Sister Mary Ada, OSJ

The ancient greyness shifted
Suddenly and thinned
Like mist upon the moors
Before the wind.
An old, old prophet lifted
A shining face and said:
“He will be coming soon.
The Son of God is dead;
He died this afternoon.”

A murmurous excitement stirred
All souls.
They wondered if they dreamed –
Save one old man who seemed
Not even to have heard.
And Moses, standing,
Hushed them all to ask
If any had a welcome song prepared.
If not, would David take the task?
