Many people believe ulcers/gastritis do not heal, is that true?

We dissect that today.

First we define what ulcers/gastritis are.
"Ulcer" means a wound, in this case on the stomach or intestine walls. On the other hand, gastritis, meaning inflammation of the stomach and intestinal walls. We mistakenly use ulcers to mean gastritis. If this gastritis goes untreated for a long time, you develop ulcers and it's one of the risk factor for developing stomach cancer (carcinoma).

Sickle Cell Disease, a thread👇

A woman walked in Kiryandongo General Hospital carrying a 9 year old boy in severe pain, this child has sickle cell anemia. She's a mother of 8 children, 4 died of the same disease and 3 of the remain 4 have the disease.

I asked her whether She knew what sickle cell is and what causes it, she couldn't answer. This pushed me to make a tweet and spread awareness about this disease. I 'll explain what the disease is and try as much as possible to avoid medical words for easy comprehension.

NSAIDs: Non-Steroid Anti-inflammatory Drugs are commonly used to relieve pain.

Examples

They are the leading cause of Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD) together with H-pylori infection.

People with arthritis (joint pains) are at higher risk of developing PUD caused by NSAIDs because they often use these drugs to relieve the pain.

For so long in Uganda and Africa at large, corticosteroids are being used over the counter (OTC) to treat common cold, simple allergies etc. However, corticosteroids have a considerable number of side effects including: hypertension, 2/14
Diabetes, lipid disorders, sleep apnea, osteoporosis, myopathy, and disorders of coagulation (will further be discussed below). But patients use steroids without being aware of this.
