Elon Musk owns so much stock because he's accumulated the sum off all work product of all his employees: engineers and factory assembly workers, who were not compensated proportionately to the value of their full contributions. For example, if you’re an engineer and you design or develop products while working for a company, you may get a high salary but the company makes perpetual profits in the millions or billions, off of your work, long after you’ve been paid a fixed salary.

Missing from the discussion is that middle and upper class really don't know what it's like to run out of money and not even have food. It applies to people seeking adjustment of status from a visa status such as a work visa (for example like H1B). To adjust status you have to have a sponsor is most cases.
