1. If you're into AI & Machine Learning (ML), prioritize schools in Quebec. Montreal, esp, is gradually becoming a global hub for AI/ML & with many renowned Profs.
2. If you're into ecology & life sciences, again, prioritize QC & Ontario. We have many global environmental HQ in Montreal with tons of Profs doing interesting research in this field. Check McGill, Concordia, UofT, UGuelph, etc

More often than not, people send generic emails to Profs with the hope that you'll be selected based on your CV & transcript- while this is good, some (especially, senior) Professors will not reply and your email can be trashed on arrival (they receive 100s of such)

Another potential reason you don't get response is because you're emailing Professors in High-paying tuition schools (e.g- UofT, McGill & UBC).
