What I would like to hear today at noon by our premier @PremierScottMoe .

The process of transferring patients to Ontario was canceled yesterday without any notice despite patients being ready to go and despite Ontario being an extremely helpful partner in all of this. 1/8 No amount of political spinning can change the fact that things were canceled yesterday for politics and ego related reasons. This decision by the government was reckless and certainly it was harmful to the care of our citizens and patients. 2/8

Transferring patients out of Saskatchewan is the right and necessary step to ensure that safer care is provided for those patients being transferred and for those patients staying in SK, and to avoid activating a triage system that has doctors decide who lives and who dies. The medical community and health authority and those involved will try to ensure the safety of those patients who are being transferred and will go above and beyond to make sure that families and patients are updated and taken care of.

I don’t want to share with you the details of a very tragic and horrible week in the ICU that I finished because some may not be able to relate to how out of control the situation is. 🧵 1/8 I don’t want to share with you the number of times I felt defeated as I said to grieving family that I’m sorry patient has passed and filled a death certificate and felt so angry on my drive home

Instead I will share some hard facts that tells you exactly where we are going🧵2/8

I am trying to be positive reading some of the leaked changes that will be announced shortly but I am extremely disappointed in 4 flaws in our plan (1/6) Those flaws can damage our efforts to get ahead. I love that the changes to the bubbles are effective immediately and I love all the categories that are added to the more immediate vaccination efforts.
But I still want those four flaws hone
The four flaws are: (2/6) #COVID19SK

In 1875, an eleven-room house was rented for $320 a year by a Toronto women's bible study group led by Elizabeth McMaster Opened on March 1 they set up six iron cots and "declared open a hospital 'for the admission and treatment of all sick children.'" For over 145 years The Hospital for Sick Children treated kids ONLY. Now the hospital is taking adults into their ICU and for the first time in 145 years. In Saskatchewan, Regina has a COVID variant of concern that spread so dangerously that the situation is fully out of contro

3 years ago Saskatchewan was struck with the worst tragedy. A bus full of lives and dreams crashed. Lives were changed forever. I was the ICU doctor on call in what I would describe as the longest night of my career. I was a witness to the greatness of humans despite tragedy(1/8) In an ICU room,I witnessed the greatness of Logan Boulet who registered to donate his organs shortly before the bus crash.I witnessed first hand the generosity of Bernadine and Tony Boulet and the values they raised their kids to have. I saw the tears of others and felt mine(2/8)

Calling the spouse of a young COVID-19 patient to update them on their spouse’s status and hearing the sound of baby in the background is a reminder that what we are doing is not enough/not working. Young people should never be in the ICU to start with. Young people filling up ICUs across our country, this disturbing trend is Unacceptable. We must do more to provide financial support so people can stay home if it’s the safer option instead of going to work in places that has known outbreaks because people are financial desperate
