With World Asthma day around the corner, as a Pulmonologist, let me tell you what exactly is Asthma and why are inhalers important in mitigating it's symptoms. (1/6) Asthma is a hyper reactive disease of the airways where when stimulated by a specific allergen(which can be anything) the airways(which are already swollen up/inflamed) constrict, decreasing the diameter of their lumen and hence causing a difficulty in breathing/dry cough.
