Here’s what happened: First, some context:

I’m building an crypto-native country called @praxisnation, with a network of people who’ve founded companies worth >$400B.

We are scouting for physical territory to build our first city with $525M of financing.

A year ago, I was canceled by the New York Times for trying to build a society of portly merchants, muscular warriors, and very thin priests.

Yesterday, we announced a $525m facility to make it a reality.

The press is dead, long live Praxis. Here’s how we did it: First, some backstory:

As a 23 year old, I left my job at a hedge fund to build a new society: new land, new laws, new people.

$525M in financing for @praxisnation to build the next great city.

Together with our partners, we designed a novel drawdown mechanism for the development of new cities. This is its first deployment. On the Mediterranean coast. We are selecting a partner Host Country via a bid process, wherein we spend time getting to know the leadership and community, and determine which country unlocks the most value for our community, companies, and the Host Country.

We believe in going slow to go fast — the right foundations are everything when embarking on what will ultimately be a 1000 year journey for the city, if we do our jobs well.

The team has spent years in our target countries at this point, understands them extremely well, and has a clear view on how to unlock mutual value.

We will make a decision and announce our site soon.

Thoughts going into 2023 I didn’t take time to unplug over the holidays and ruminate, and I won’t until there’s a city built, so these thoughts are not fully formed.

But they may be useful anyway.

Praxis is announcing an exciting milestone next month.

In the meantime, I’m sharing this with the community to remind us why we are building a city: Life today seems to lack a spiritual dimension that would cause us to strive for something more than mere happiness.

If ppl go to ISA school instead, who creates “civic minded ppl”? To be clear, I would view it as net positive if ppl did not have do_civic_good installed by large institutions.
