Y’all they put me on the jury.
I’ll be keeping my notes here.
First, DO NOT TRY TO GET OUT OF JURY DUTY!!! This is week had been, BY FAR, the most interesting week I’ve had in a long time. When I tell you I have been LEANED IN. Bay beee…🍿
Me all day: “and then what happened?!”

This is such a real-time, real-life, live examination of inference, schema and background experience and what readers bring to text
Welcome! If you’re new, I normally tweet about K-12 literacy.
I woke up to hundreds of mentions…1/2 is enjoying the story of a 4year olds antics and her parents; the other half is debating whether I was abused, victimized, or tormented at the hands of a controlling, cruel woman begging me to unpack and see a therapist

I have the MOST distinct memory of me and my daddy going grocery shopping when I was 4. My mom was either pregnant or my sister was an infant
Anyway, she sent me with my dad to Farmer Jacks.
This trip ended with me being punished for 14 years.
My mother did NOT buy sugary cereal. She bought Alpha Bits, cheerios, cream of wheat and oatmeal. On the RARE occasion, I could have Trix.
Never Lucky Charms (never had them, to this day), Capn Crunch or Coco Crisp.
NEVER.

Let’s talk emergent reading this morning, shall we?
You all know I have a baby niece, Penelope, who is 18 months old.
She has been talked to and read to multiple times daily since she was born.
A few months ago, my sister noticed that she was interested in choosing her own books. She would go to her bookcase and pick one to read
Then she would sit down, with the book properly oriented, and “read” to whoever was in the room
