My last research trip before finishing up my Ph.D. thesis was the culmination of everything I have worked for in the past five years

Here's a quick summary of an alternative financing model for nature conservation that relies on the value of fair data and open science 👇 Currently, nature conservation relies heavily on donations - or carbon credits. Donations are not really scalable and - well - carbon credits are mostly super fishy (e.g. greenwashing) 👎

What if there is a third (alternative) way that builds on top of our data economy?

I’m fed up too. My team @gainforestnow and I’ve been attending every COP since 2017 and I feel embarrassed to say this because this CO2 curve has been going up 📈

Why? Here is what’s happening behind the scenes 1/7 There is lots of greenwashing. Week 1 has all the media attention. Western celebrities and billionaires come to celebrate themselves. Mostly empty pledges. Week 2 is where the agreements are finalized and that’s where you see ugly truth of some delegations 2/7
