Alright, I'm wanting to finish the rest of these Batman movies this weekend so lets jump into...Merry Little Batman from 2023. This is the one I've been dreading the most. I had such a gut visceral negative reaction to this trailer that I can't really put into words. So yes, I already have it out for this movie and for all these key-jingling sensory tools for toddlers. I think kids deserve better than this. But, can it all really be that bad? The answer is yes. But is it? Let's see.

Alright, time for Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, the 2023 sequel to Gotham by Gaslight and the last of these Batman movies I am even remotely interested in. Seriously, the last three look freaking abysmal. Bruce has taken in Dick and Jason in between films.

I'm really eager to be done with these Batman movies, So I'm moving right along to Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons from 2022. Super Sons was a fun book. I like the idea of Jon Kent more than anything I've seen him in and Damian is...not my favorite. But pairing him up with Jon Kent fixed a lot of his issues even if it did feel similar to Tim and Conner's dynamic.

Finally, I have arrived at the most recent live action Batman movie, The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. I have not seen this movie since it came out in theaters back in 2022. So I'm trying to go into it with fresher eyes and with a better understanding of Batman's history. I really hate that they made Riddler a Temu Zodiac Killer. It's a creative choice I will never be able to get behind. Riddler isn't a serial killer. He isn't a murder psycho. He's not some champion of the proletariat.

Alright, time for a Batman movie I hadn't even heard of until I compiled this list, Batman: Soul of the Dragon. According to Google this is inspired by 1970s martial arts movies and was made in honor of the late Dennis O'Neil Image Dennis O'Neil was the writer who revamped Batman in the 70s and was later the primary editor and architect for Batman from '86-'99. He's the most consequential talent to touch the character since Bob Kane and Bill Finger first created him.

It must be fate that I would arrive at Batman: The Long Halloween on a holiday. This is one of the longer ones and adapted from one of the most definitive Batman stories. I like the comic a lot. It's definitely in my Top 10 Batman books, possibly Top 5. The art isn't really up my alley and the character dynamics are a bit thin. But I think the impact and the metanarrative of Long Halloween makes it a Top 3 most important Batman story.

Alright, 9 more Batman movies to go. It's time to wrap up the Lego set with Lego DC Batman: Family Matters, not to be confused with the family matters theme of The Lego Batman Movie, not to be confused with Lego Batman: The Movie. Image I know Gotham is an important part of Solomon Grundy's backstory but it's so weird how many of these movies he's in. How much of it was because Arkham City decided to include him?

Alright, time to continue my journey through Batman's movies with 2019's Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, another crossover film. So, I'm not the biggest TMNT fan. I like the first movie, the animated film from 2007, the 2003 series, the bits of the 2012 series that I've seen and that's about it. Never got into it the way a lot of other people have.

Alright, got plenty of time today so going for another Batman movie. It's time for Batman: Hush, the fourth and final Batman solo film in the DCAMU. So glad to get this particular continuity wrapped up. Hush is such a great story until you get to the payoff and realize Hush is the lamest major Batman villain ever.

Next on my Batman list is Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, the 2018 adaptation of the 1989 Graphic novel which was the first and still possibly the best (or at least most definitive) Elseworlds story. The Poison Ivy bit highlights a problem I have with Elseworlds stories. They clutter things up with familiar characters tweaked to the setting and then don't do anything with them. Ivy is an exotic dancer and prostitute who immediately gets murdered by Jack the Ripper.

Alright, I'm jumping right into Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold from 2018 because I have lowkey been super excited for this. Scooby-Doo was my favorite show growing up and I've yet to see a bad Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode. Image Some of my favorite episodes in Scooby-Doo history were the Batman and Robin episodes of The New Scooby-Doo movies. I'm even tempted to go through all the Scooby movies in similar fashion at a later time.

Time for Batman Ninja, another one I haven't seen yet. I never really cared for DC's Elseworlds line. Always felt fanfic-y. Like they're exploiting the familiar property to promote something only tangentially related to it. Is that Azula as Catwoman *one Google search later* Oh God it is. That's...not gonna lie that's a good casting decision.

Time to do another Batman movie, this time it's 2017's Batman and Harley Quinn, a movie allegedly set in the same universe as Batman TAS, which would have been a guaranteed seal of quality in 1999 but by 2017...no it the fuck was not. Jason Woodrue, the Floronic Man has now inexplicably appeared in more of these movies than Jason Todd

Alright, time for The Lego Batman Movie (2017) not to be confused with Lego Batman: The Movie (2013). Completely different things. To my understanding, the older one was a Batman movie, but with Lego whereas this is a spinoff of The Lego Movie, starring that movie's version of Batman. Which sucks because I'm not fond of that movie and I lowkey hate its Batman

Time for Batman vs Two-Face, the third and final Adam West Batman movie on the list, starring William Shatner as Harvey Dent, a character/actor combo the original showrunner really wanted but weren't allowed because censorship Image This marks the first film appearance of Hugo Strange, one of Batman's oldest foes, one of few prominent characters who even predates Robin (albeit, back then he was just a generic 40s mad scientist type).

We had three Batman trashfires in a row now to hopefully wash it out with some 60s slop. It's time for 2016s Return of the Caped Crusader starring Adam West as Batman. So glad Adam West lived long enough to see his iteration of Batman go full circle from prime time staple, to laughing stock to the most hated version of Batman to beloved gem.

Alright, time to watch Batman: Bad Blood, the third DCAMU Batman movie and the one I have had the lowest opinion on. I have, on at least one occasion, called this the worst Batman movie. Let's see if I'm right. First of all, that title. All I can think of is that Taylor Swift song which I know had to be on everyone's minds when this movie was getting made because that song was huge in 2015, right before this movie came out.

Look, he ain't wrong but he ain't right either. There are plenty of great stories after Ditko left, including a few individual issues and stories that may be better than what Ditko did. But the hit rate slowly diminished over time. Lee/Ditko were making a masterpiece every month for 38 months straight. There's a reason why those 38 issues continue to form the foundation of every Spider-Man story and adaptation since then. For comparison, Lee/Romita were making a great issue every 2-3 months.

Alright, now on my Batman watch list, the infamous adaptation of The Killing Joke from 2016. The reputation of this movie precedes it so I'm bracing for impact. "First of all, I realize this is probably not how you thought the story would start."
Barbara, sweetie, a shot of Gotham's skyline at night is how most of these movies start. Oh, wait, you meant that this Killing Joke movie isn't going to jump into Killing Joke yet.

So, here we are, finally in the last 10 years of Batman movie appearances with Batman v. Superman, a movie I have despised since I first saw it 10 years ago. And just to prove a point, I am watching the "Ultimate Edition" that Snyder fans gaslit themselves into thinking was good. It is kinda telling that of all the Batman movies ever made, over half of them were made in the past 11 years.

Jumping right into Mechs vs Mutants. I just discovered this iteration of the Batman series yesterday and it's already over. Sad times. Image Already not liking the redesign they did on some of the characters. I guess a new wave of toys were coming out.
