“Each year an area the size of Portugal is deforested”. Today @Europarl_EN voted for the landmark #EUDR law, to break the EU’s complicity in the destruction

In a press conference @CHansenEU emphasised the urgency of the situation, & acknowledged that the work is just beginning He acknowledged that for the law to achieve its aim, other wooded lands and other commodities must eventually be added to its scope, and said the EU is committed to helping smallholder producers to comply with the law

BREAKING: the @Europarl_EN just voted to adopt the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (#EUDR)

This is a huge success for forests and people and comes after years of campaigning 💪🌳🌲🌱

However, the fight is far from over!
