I’m heading to a Commerce Committee markup today, in part because I’ve been reporting for the last few days on a very interesting saga around a Coast Guard promotion.

Buckle up, because this will be a long thread here: From 2015 to 2017 Kimberly McLear, a Coast Guard officer who was also a professor at the Coast Guard Academy filed complaints against Jesse Millard, her boss at the time, and other officers, alleging they mistreated and bullied her.

Currently at the House Rules Committee hearing on the Puerto Rico Status Act, where I am one of *two* members of the press covering this hearing in person. Follow along: Burgess (R-TX) beginning with a statement questioning the value of an emergency hearing on the Puerto Rico Status Act, given the few days left in the session and the likely lack of consideration of the bill in the Senate. Also states that the bill is “not ready for primetime.”

Some professional news: I'm so excited to share that in January, I will be joining the incredible team at the @WSJ as the Politics Reporting Intern in the Journal's D.C. Bureau! I'll be working with the Journal's Congress team so please send Capitol Hill advice my way! I am so beyond thankful for my time at NBC + @MeetThePress these last few months. Working for the longest-running TV show in history has been an absolutely humbling experience. I'm going to miss working with, and learning from, the best team in broadcast. Leaving is bittersweet.
