The following thread is my reaction to the news of a possible TBOSAS sequel entitled The Ballad Of The Epitaph. 1. @DivinitySeeker1 has previously posted details on TBOSAS that came true. See this thread, in which this account stated that TBOSAS would open with a prologue scene and end with Donald Sutherland (both of which are true if you count DS' voiceover).

There is something that has been really bothering me about the most recent Elon Musk controversy involving an advertiser boycott over antisemitic posts and a resultant advertiser boycott (🧵) On the night of November 17, I wrote the following thread writing out William Wordsworth’s poem “Lucy Gray.”

I want to talk a little bit about this new NBA Cup, which is honestly one of the most pointless things I have seen a major sports league do in years. 🧵 Before we go on, it is important to realize that the NBA based its new competition on the model used by European soccer, where teams compete for multiple trophies.

I realize people are going to compare what Fowler did to Jack Nicklaus conceding a putt to Tony Jacklin in 1969.

rydercup.com/news-media/the… Here is the difference: Nicklaus’s own putt on that hole had ensured that the USA would at least retain the Cup, and he didn’t want to put Jacklin in a situation where he would have lost the Cup outright.

You know that new golf schedule that moved the PGA Championship to a weekend dominated by NBA Playoffs, NHL Playoffs, and the Preakness—thus giving the PGA Championship its lowest final round TV ratings in 15 years?

Turns out that it also impacting the Ryder Cup. While the PGA Tour’s season ended on August 27, the DP World Tour has played events on September 3, 10, 17, and 24.

The event on September 17 was a Rolex Series event (in PGA Tour terms, that would be the equivalent of a designated event).

Here is a Twitter thread that seems to indicate that front-office issues at Lionsgate, as well as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, are causing marketing issues for The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes, The Expendables, and Saw. I went on record a few months ago and said that if Dune 2 moved off November 3 due to the strikes, it would be a signal that Marvels, TBOSAS, and Napoleon had unsustainable release dates (all three films are scheduled for November release dates).

As someone who has been checking the NYT sports section since they were a kid, its closure is a sad, sad development. 🧵 When I was a kid, the NYT sports section would run a small transactions box on its agate page (yes, such a thing still existed). That was how I gained a somewhat basic understanding of the different types of sports movements (trades, free agency, etc).

I have no doubt that Halle Bailey was picked for “The Little Mermaid” because she had the best audition. My big issue here is that Disney produced an unnecessary live-action remake amongst a pattern of unnecessary live action remakes.

Excerpt: “Another group of children from occupied Mariupol were brought to the stage, along with a soldier named Yuri L. Gagarin…who was introduced as having saved 367 children from the devastated city, though how he did so was not explained.” 🧵

nytimes.com/2023/02/22/wor… Wow, thank you Soldier Yuri Gagarin for your service. I’m sure that the the children you saved appreciate your sacrifice, which must have come at GREAT risk to your life.

By the way, that name seems ODDLY familiar…
