2/5 understand that genocide doesn't happen in one day. When we went to Rwanda in '85 they would tell us we can't go to some areas due to violence. There were signs that no one was paying attention to. That was 9 years before the genocide.

But this situation just frustrates me. We all saw this problem from a mile away, we didn't understand why the US was allowed to be involved in this. And no one in government was willing to tell us why. Why is our patriotism always taken for granted? 1/8
Our govts have never been transparent about the deals & fights they get into,we're not worthy enough to be transparent with or give input but we're good enough to die when those deals fall apart. Up to this day does the public really know why Meles & Isaias fell through? No.

Meet Akwata Omod, this amazing woman runs a shelter for young girls and orphaned children in Gambella town. Her organization provides shelter for girls who are victims of rape and infants who have been abandoned. I can not even begin to describe her mental strength. (1/6)
She explained to us that most of the rape victims are girls under the age of 13. The infants that are abandoned are results of early age unwanted pregnancies. She has only resources to provide temporary shelter and struggles to find families for the infants. She proudly (2/6)

#GonderMosque update: 1. Today we spent the morning at the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council. We met with several members including Sheik Omar Emam Omar (VP) who thanked us for our efforts & gave us his blessings. We have raised over 110,000 birr and will be transferring 2. it on Monday. Sheik Omar told us we all have to protect what makes Ethiopia special which is our religious history of living together.
