Last Friday, I had the opportunity to present two sessions at School 74, one for teachers and one for high school students who will be teacher assistants at the @100BlackMenIndy PreK-8 Summer Academy. 1/15 With the teachers, I facilitated a training about incorporating local Black history into lessons with students. I showed the names of the 30 people I featured in my @KeepINLearning Black Excellence series in 2021. I asked each teacher to determine how many people they knew. 2/15

As a person who helped contribute to the Black Academic Excellence Plan released by the NAACP, I will say this is a more thorough write up than some articles I have seen which mostly just stated there is a plan 1/17

As a former member of the IDOE Cultural Competency Advisory Council (some other former members contributed to the plan) that disappeared when Jenner took office, I can say that the IDOE always wants more time when it comes Black student achievement 2/17
