Is Bloom's taxonomy a 'pedagogy'? I'll be honest, in 25 years of Initial Teacher Education I have never described it as a pedagogy, though it is a pedagogical tool. 1/13 @tes
tes.com/news/ofsted-al… It's worrying when those who are there to...
Quality control ITE?
Uphold high standards?
Hold accountable ITE practitioners?
...make a claim that is at odds with commonly understood aspects of ITE.

Bloom's is part of the theoretical frameworks of teaching and learning. 2/13

We keep hearing that 'children have been left behind'. In reality what has happened is that they have covered less of a curriculum that was set for a time when we did not have a global pandemic. They have 'all' been left behind in that respect 1/10 Who sets that curriculum? Who decides what children should know and when? We do. Collectively through politicians, examination boards etc. We can just as easily change what we require children to know, understand and be able to do if we choose. 2/10

This is the same conversation we are having in our University - it's about knowing what learning has taken place rather than devising different ways of doing what we've always done. Ideally that involves a conversation between expert and student, and therein lies the problem 1/4 Too few experts and too many students. Examinations in a modern sense came when Farrish (Chem prof) in 17th C found the conversations (viva voce) needed to award degrees took too much time, so he wrote the questions and students wrote answers. 2/4

@IsabelOakeshott you wanted to know if there was evidence teachers were being infected? Here is some. It's easy for the DfE to counter, eg by saying it's an anomaly, exceptional etc. by publishing independently verified national data. Will they? No, as it's too damaging for them. @IsabelOakeshott you asked about teachers being seriously I'll, is this serious enough for you?

No longer can we fairly award grades for exams that are non existent. We must think now about how we can produce genuine statements of academic achievement for each pupil that combines any test/exam data we do have with HONEST appraisals of achievement by teachers 1/5 Teachers should now be enabled to produce, without fear or favour, moderated statements of achievement for each subject (internal moderation at least) that detail any lost time in school, any test results or assessment with recommendations for further study (A level or uni) 2/5

The government is wrong to tell parents to send their children to school.
Johnson keeps saying the risk to children is small. It is. But that's not why schools should go online (not close, schools have never closed). He is avoiding the key issue, the spread of infection 1/10 Children may not suffer serious problems from covid 19 (BUT a very small number will, especially those with underlying health issues). It is how they act as carriers and transmitters of the virus that is the problem. 2/10

Now that this year’s A levels/GCSEs have been decided, is this a good time to think about our examination and assessment system? 1/25 Image Exams are not new. The Chinese had the Imperial examination system for officials from the Song dynasty (960–1279) onward ending in 1905. In England examinations have a much more recent history. 2/25

There's a thread about a comment:
"People forget how awful it was before Gove era when you couldn’t sit pupils in rows, you had to hide away to teach knowledge, there were games everywhere and you’d get down graded for not having enough games" says @Miss_Snuffy 1/14 I'm blocked by her (I don't know why, but it's her absolute right to block whoever she wants for whatever reason, or even no reason).
What the thread reveals is interesting. This thread explores my thoughts on what was said, it is NOT an attack on her. 2/14
