I am having the great pleasure of co-teaching a dual language summer enrichment course to 6th-9th graders on the southwest side of Chicago through my masters program @RooseveltU. For the English portion of our teaching, we are reading @djolder's Shadowshaper. 1/ Today's morning meeting question had to do with why students thought the author used both Spanish and English to tell the story. Student responses were varied and thoughtful. "Lots of people use both languages and he wanted it to sound like people really talk." 2/
