NEW: An email obtained via FOIA shows the godfather of the "AMYLOID MAFIA" — the dominant theory of Alzheimer's — telling his critic that "it's time to fold."

It shows the dark side of NIH-funded science. 🧵 Image
Image
For three decades the idea that Alzheimer's is caused by beta amyloids has dominated the field. Its proponents have been so dominant they are referred to as the "amyloid mafia" or "amyloid cabal."

The idea has consumed billions in NIH funding.

But the Alzheimer's research field has been consumed with allegations of fraud. Hundreds of papers cited nearly 80,000 times have evidence of image manipulation. Many were coauthored by leaders of the "amyloid mafia."

Most of what Arthur Schlessinger Jr. told JFK about the CIA has been public for years — except for 1.5 redacted pages that @jeffersonmorley fought to be declassified. I dug into that section today.

They expose a rogue CIA: "On the day of President Kennedy's inauguration, 47 percent of the political offices serving in United States Embassies were [Controlled American Sources aka CIA]. Sometimes the CIA mission chief has been in the country longer, has more money at his disposal, wields more influence (and is abler) than the Ambassador. Often he has direct access to the Prime Minister. Sometimes ... during a critical period ... he pursues a different policy from that of the Ambassador. And he is generally well known locally as the CIA representative."Image Schlessinger appears to reference rumored CIA involvement in the Algiers putsch:

“CIA occupies the top floor of the Paris embassy, a fact well known locally; and on the night of the Generals’ [unreadable] in Algeria, passersby noted with amusement that the top floor was ablaze with lights,” he wrote. “I am informed that Ambassador Gavin was able to secure entrance that night to the CIA offices only with difficulty.”Image

Major takeaways from the explosive report from two German newspapers that German intelligence pointed to a lab origin with 80-95% probability as early as 2020 — which was allegedly downplayed with the help of Biden's Director of National Intelligence. 🧵 Image The assessment was informed by unpublished docs and data and the published scientific literature -- including from Wuhan Institute of Virology Senior Scientist Shi Zhengli's lab.

But there's a new clue: The assessment was partially informed by theses or dissertations about the impact of coronaviruses on the human brain.

I would have been too intimidated to say this 3 years ago. But I've since read hundreds of USAID docs. Elon Musk's claim about its bioweapons-work-by-another-name is not as crazy as the Deep State would like you to believe.

🧵 Image
Image
First of all, did USAID create SARS-CoV-2? There is no definitive link.

But USAID PREDICT collected viruses in the places in China where its relatives circulated.

USAID PREDICT left behind thousands of samples in Wuhan Institute of Virology freezers, overseen by rumored "Patient Zero" Ben Hu. EcoHealth withheld the sequences of some of PREDICT’s samples from public view.

News: The CIA has updated its public assessment of the origins of COVID: Lab leak.

NOTE: The public still has no new materials to review. Trump's new CIA director, John Ratcliffe, tried to declassify intelligence years ago but faced resistance from...the CIA.Image In my story I review some of the red flags that have emerged regarding the intelligence community's work on the COVID origins issue. 🧵

EcoHealth Alliance used to be called The Wildlife Trust. Jeremy Farrar is the chief scientist at the WHO and was central to suppressing the lab leak theory. Image

Farrar helped place letters in The Lancet and in Nature Medicine that were used to suppress discussion of EcoHealth Alliance's connection to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and a possible lab origin of COVID in the media and on social media. usrtk.org/covid-19-origi…

I added more details to my story about the @COVIDSelect's final report.

Notably, the committee alleges EcoHealth Alliance obstructed its investigation. Daszak omitted and doctored subpoenaed records. Like perjury and false statements, this could expose Daszak to criminal charges.

usrtk.org/covid-19-origi… “WE’LL BE SEEN AS SPIES, NOT SCIENTISTS.”

Daszak was VERY determined to maintain his relationship to the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

This may help explain why he was VERY determined to keep his communications with the FBI out of the public eye.

Daszak: “It’s massively damaging to our reputation to reveal the discussions I had with [FBI] about this and we need to avoid this at all costs. [emphasis mine] … We’ll be seen as spies, not scientists.”

He never directly asked the lab for any information about a possible accident. He obviously never felt any obligation to get answers for the American people. Given what I’ve observed about his character, that’s not all that surprising.

But he wasn’t even willing to ask for this info. to get grant funding back. That IS surprising. I don’t think it’s conspiratorial to wonder why he prioritized access to the Wuhan lab to this degree.Image

Also in @COVIDSelect's final report, out just now, EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak NEVER actually asked the Wuhan Institute of Virology for data and notes in compliance with NIH's requests, forwarding an NIH letter with a tepid note. Image

The World Bank held a closed-door meeting with EcoHealth Alliance in 2018 on preparing for pandemics — “natural, intentional, or accidental.”

After COVID emerged near its partner lab in Wuhan, EcoHealth denied that the pandemic could have been caused by an accidental release.

usrtk.org/wp-content/upl…Image “Don’t hold your effing breath!!!!!!!”

The Wuhan lab’s database of coronaviruses became inaccessible in early 2020. EcoHealth Alliance had helped fund their discovery.

As U.S. intel agencies scoured genetic data for clues about COVID, Daszak and Fauci aide David Morens expressed confidence they wouldn’t find any.

These emails were sent in August 2021. Daszak would not ask his collaborators in Wuhan for data until Jan. 2022.Image

Why do we have so little info about the coronavirus research in Wuhan?

Hundreds of documents reveal how Fauci's inner circle shielded EcoHealth Alliance from questions about the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Protected by Fauci's NIAID, EcoHealth delayed asking Wuhan colleagues for viral data and lab notebooks sought by the U.S. government for 20 months.

usrtk.org/covid-19-origi…Image Some of the employees at Fauci's institute who protected EcoHealth had a conflict of interest:

They had championed risky virology ("gain-of-function research") before the pandemic, including reconstruction of the 1918 flu. Even after COVID emerged, they described opposing scientists as "luddites" and "the complaining people."

Today @HSGAC will consider a @SenRandPaul bill that would move decisions about the riskiest gain-of-function research out of the hands of Fauci's former institute, the NIAID.

Sen. Rand Paul opens a bipartisan hearing on COVID origins by reading the statements of virologists who privately agonized about the lab leak theory but cried "conspiracy theory!" publicly.

He includes the statements of Bob Garry, one of those virologists, who is a witness today.

hsgac.senate.gov/hearings/origi… The witnesses were sworn in, but by his opening statement, Garry has made a false claim.

Garry claims his authors had not ruled out a lab origin at the time of writing "Proximal Origin" from February through mid-March 2020.

In fact they had in their draft paper ruled out engineering based on shallow evidence and all but ruled out serial passage based on a rationale they considered "crap" by February 8th, a week after they started.

The hearing is getting underway. I'll live tweet observations here. 🧵

Democrats are seeking to treat the issue of poorly regulated gain-of-function research in Wuhan funded by NIAID and a conspiracy to evade FOIA within his office as "discrete" from Fauci.

One big, obvious challenge for Democrats: Fauci led NIAID. Fauci insists that the authors of "Proximal Origin" were independent.

He claims that the authors of "Proximal Origin" kept "an open mind."

Can anyone who has encountered Kristian Andersen on Twitter after the publication of "Proximal Origin" actually believe he kept an open mind?

Fauci aide David Morens is currently facing questions from @COVIDSelect about the apparent conspiracy at NIH to hide emails.

Asked if he and Fauci talked about COVID outside of NIH official channels, Morens said: "I certainly told him some things that he asked me to tell him about the situation with [EcoHealth Alliance President] Peter [Daszak]."

youtube.com/watch?v=jGxSlW… GOP witch hunt? Not quite.

Democratic Ranking Member Ruiz says that Morens dismissing the lab leak hypothesis as "crazy" undermines the integrity of the NIH.

David Morens — Fauci’s aide for two decades and EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak's best friend — is set to testify publicly today.

Here are some of my takeaways from his initial transcribed interview. 🧵

Image Peter Daszak did not fully understand the coronavirus gain-of-function work he funded at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He asked Morens to explain.

“Why would he? He’s not a virologist.”

Former Fauci aide Lawrence Tabak testifies that on the origins of COVID question, "NIH is not an investigative agency."

Well, NIH is not an emergency response agency either, yet Fauci led the pandemic response.

NIH could dig into deleted data and metadata at NIH that could shed light on pre-pandemic research on viruses like COVID and on COVID's phylogenetic tree.

EcoHealth's risky research with the Wuhan Institute of Virology was permitted in part because NIH allows scientists, labs and funders to self-regulate.

Virologists are still able to self-regulate today.

More emails between longtime Fauci aide David Morens and EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak show how Daszak used his connections to deflect scrutiny.

Daszak says he values opportunities to “fill in” Morens about COVID origins “because of your position.”

Daszak says the same to Gerald Keusch, an original member of The Lancet’s COVID task force.

usrtk.org/wp-content/upl…Image Daszak, Wuhan Institute of Virology virologist Zhengli Shi and Western virologists Angela Rasmussen and Robert Garry together pushed for the retraction of a (deeply flawed) letter to the editor.

Rasmussen and Garry have spent years convincing the press it’s conspiratorial to scrutinize the Wuhan lab, but this may be the first known instance of them working directly with the lab to shape the narrative in the West.

‘THE CLOSEST WE WILL GET TO QUESTIONING A CHINESE SPY’

Here is my detailed article on EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak’s testimony and some key takeaways. 🧵

usrtk.org/covid-19-origi… Democrats and Republicans agree that Daszak should be temporarily banned from receiving any more taxpayer dollars.

Nonetheless some in the media — loathe to examine their past mistakes — have continued to defend Daszak.

A hearing is getting underway with EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak, whose research projects involving the discovery and engineering of novel coronaviruses are the center of concerns about a possible lab leak in Wuhan. Fauci appears to be redefining "gain-of-function research" in order to escape a perjury conviction.

He recently said that gain-of-function only includes enhancing viruses "highly likely to be known to be very transmissible giving morbidity and mortality in humans."

Seconds later in the same interview, he gives a different definition. A moment later, Fauci says gain-of-function research includes tweaks that make flu viruses grow better in eggs, which has nothing to do with enhancing how infectious or deadly a virus is.

No wonder there is "confusion!"

The definition of gain-of-function changes moment to moment depending on Fauci's legal and rhetorical needs.

- SARS-CoV-2's closest cousin virus Image
