🧵⚠️ my kids were exposed to Peters violence on the day I did my last trip to the family home.
He would not allow me to take their beds, toys, or their clothes.
I walked out with a bed & a sofa.
My Dad gave me cash for rent, my sons respite support worker met me in
supermarket to cover my groceries when I was putting items back on the shelf. A band of kind friends turned up to help buy second hand white goods & the Salvos got my kids new beds.
Peter was self-employed as a Private Investigator hadn’t completed a tax return

🧵My kids were exposed to their father Peters abuse of me for many years. His threats, his undermining his disrespect of me.
He pled guilty to an AVO in 2015, is a frmr Police officer & a private investigator, he hid tracking devices in my car, slashed my car tyres, threatened
to murder me & kidnapped our children twice. He would call Bill Shortens office when I was an MP. Eventually he teamed with the fired member of my staff (who said I was a slut, Sharon Stone & a bully).

He, after being an abusive Husband has EVERY RIGHT to file for shared-custody in court.
HE is a perpetrator & even if he never “hurt” his kids he inflicted terror on
their Mum. Their primary care giver. He should not be entitled to anything to do with his children until he has been rehabilitated through an offender program.
If we get serious about #endfdv this surely will save lives & most importantly BREAK THE CYCLE.
