I really appreciate everyone who has helped me and Yas get the word out about Love in the Library, but there's something that I'd like to clarify:

Often, copy will say something "this shameful chapter" in American history or "this dark time" to refer to Japanese incarceration. I disagree with this framing.

It implies that the era in which the United States does not wrongfully incarcerate people (incl children) based on their race is over. And it simply is not.

Mass incarceration is a uniquely American phenomenon and policy. And it's very current.

THE PROPHESY HAS COME TRUE, a white person has gotten mad at me for saying racism is an American tradition in the author's note of my book about my grandparents meeting in a *checks note* Japanese incarceration camp I have been told I should not waste my time yelling at her and this is good and true advice, but also like she really really deserves to be yelled at

OK fuck it, here are all my opinions about the Joker Movie which none of you asked for:

Reviews already exist abt Joker Movie, abt how it aggrandizes incels and is tone deaf for our times and seems likely to court more acts of mass violence, and I agree with all those reviews. Women are used in the film singularly as those who disappoint, never living up to offer what Arthur needs to be a good person.
