New: Arizona's election auditors and the Senate Republicans overseeing it were totally wrong in claiming a key Maricopa County database had been deleted. They'd just been looking the wrong way, their tech expert admitted today.

My story on the blunder: cnn.com/2021/05/18/pol… What the auditors, and Senate Republicans running the show, did not make clear today is when they'd realized their error -- and how long they allowed misinformation about a deleted database to continue to circulate without correction.

Joe Biden in Wilmington speech on coronavirus: "It seems like our wartime president has surrendered -- waved the white flag and left the battlefield." Biden: "You know the steps you’ve taken so far haven’t gotten the job done, Mr. President. Fix the shortage of PPE for our health care workers before you tee off another round of golf."

Joe Biden tells reporters on a call Trump is “behind the curve” and is “promising results he has not delivered and announcing actions that he has not even ordered.”

“He’s all over the map. In a crisis we need leadership that’s straightforward, clear and reliable,” Biden says. Pointing to the slow deployment of face masks, tests and a vaccine, Biden says Trump should “stop saying false things that will make you sound like a hero.”

“Stop swerving between over-promising, buck-passing, and start delivering protection to our people," he says.

I’m in El Paso this evening, at a vigil for victims of yesterday’s shooting outside the Las Americas headquarters. Beto O’Rourke is speaking now. He calls El Paso “the best place on planet earth, if you ask me.”

“There are so many right now who want to make us afraid of each other. Make us angry. Keep us apart based on our differences. ... This community has born the brunt of it,” he says.

Set to lead an anti-Trump march, @BetoORourke is deflecting 2020 questions, saying he’s there to support El Paso in its opposition to a border wall.

The US-Mexico border is visible in the background here. .@BetoORourke: “I am so proud of what El Paso is doing right now. We have decided that no one will tell our story but us, and that story is powerful, it’s positive — it is the truth in face of these lies.”

This the week LeBron James opened a cutting-edge public school for at-risk kids in Akron. And his interview with Lemon about what these kids need was insightful. LeBron usually is.

Look, you don't have to like LeBron the basketball player. I usually root against him! But... LeBron is incredibly smart and savvy. Look at his impact on the NBA: He single-handedly shifted power from owners to star players. Shorter contracts, superteams, positionless unicorns? LBJ's doing. theringer.com/nba/2017/10/26…
