@katrina_senate's run for one of N. Dakota's US Senate seats may be the nation's best political longshot. The race's results will hinge on two variables: 1) Can she get to 33.4% or higher? 2) How will Hoeven (R) & Becker (R, but technically an independent) split the GOP vote? 1/ Regarding the former, the average vote share for statewide Democratic candidates in 2020 was 30.5% (in a D +4.5% year). In 2018 (D +8.6%), that figure was 37.6%. If 2022 is a blue wave, 33.4% or higher is not out of the question. 2/

Thread. Years ago, when I began studying the American Colonization Society (a 19th c. organization that promoted the removal of black people from the U.S. and created Liberia for this purpose), I'd occasionally come across websites that appeared to be history-oriented...1/ ...but a few clicks in turned out to be supportive of the ACS's worldview that black people did not belong in America. 2/
