Today’s City Council meeting is underway with 43 alderpeople present. The City Council will vote in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s 2024 budget today. Deleted a tweet that said all in-person public commenters spoke from the 3rd floor gallery. That was incorrect. Some did speak from the 2nd floor.

This committee meeting, that will feature a hearing on the NASCAR race, has begun.

You should be able to stream on the city clerk's website, but some of us are currently getting an "access denied, You are not authorized to access this page" message for the entire website. After a brief break, the committee will carry on with its business. Still no access to the livestream so I suppose everyone who is here in person is lucky to be able to listen to this discussion in real time.

Missed this yesterday but the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability announced they've selected Public Sector Search & Consulting as the firm to assist in the search for a new CPD superintendent. The firm works exclusively on police executive searches. While asylum seekers have been arriving in Chicago via bus from states like Texas since August, this is the first time the Committee on Immigrant and Refugee Rights, chaired by Ald. Ariel Reboyras (30), is holding a hearing on the topic. The committee last met in September 2021. Image
