Meanwhile, the rest of the very diverse bus in downtown Chicago was silent. I spoke up. “Nobody wants to hear that. Take that ignorance off this bus, these people are not your enemy,” seeing him swig a small container of clear booze.

“That bottle is your problem. Not them.”

“FUCK YOU!” he yelled stepping off the bus and looking back in at me.

I was unmoved.

I’m crossing the street minding my own business and a Karen stops far ahead of the stop line, and stays.
