A thread on the newest weird shit people are doing with AI: creating Facebook pages with thousands of images of Jesus posted every day. At first, it was just images of various soda Jesuses. But then, it took some weird turns. Like Shrimp Jesus.
I truly don't understand who this art is for and I don't want to know, but they always have the homies in the comments saying "Amen" which cracks me up

Did you know that for 20 years, there were only 3 types of foils in Magic?
Did you know 2023 was the 20th anniversary of the traditional foil?
That we've had 11 new foils introduced in the last 2 years?
Here's a quick 🧵on Magic's recent infatuation with alternate card styles:
I realized yesterday that I used the phrase "Junk Wax Era" in two different conversations, so I wanted to look at what made the Junk Wax Era in sports cards and see if this was at all applicable to Magic.
Short digression: the JWE was a period in the late '80s and early '90s...

Before MOM, how many times do you think a common one drop creature has been the best card at its color and rarity over the last 10 standard sets?
I'm going to tell you! Don't worry!
But do the poll first before I give you a thread about the evolution of the modern 1 drop:
Ah, the common one drop. Here, seen in its natural habitat, either doing nothing or beating ass.
Yes, Kird Ape used to be a HOUSE.
One drops are, I'd imagine, an incredibly challenging design space. It gives people something to do on turn one, which feels great.

Last year, I didn't mulligan.
I mean, did I take a mulligan here or there? Sure. I'm not a monster.
But I would keep anything from a one-lander to a single spell. If it didn't work, I could always blame the shuffler.
Here's how I fixed that this year and the best advice I got:
Some of this stems from growing up with the original mulligan rule. Did you know that if you had all lands or no lands, you used to get a FREE mulligan?
Yeah.
You just tossed that shit back and drew seven for free. It was wild.
The downside was you had to keep ANYTHING else.

Okay, here's the real story on the Summit day one from someone who wasn't paid to be there or has any financial ties to its success.
I'm going to relay personal anecdotes and I don't claim to speak for everyone who was there, but I want to give you a feel for what it was like:
I was the literal first person to get their VIP badge. They didn't tell people where to line up, so I asked The Hulk who was working security. He basically told me to crowd the doors. There were easily 100+ kids that were there already that were just milling about. Good luck.

Mythic trophy thread from 11/22, with 69 (nice) decks from @17Lands users.
Tonight we cover:
Is Knife actually good?
Boros doesn't care about your feelings.
I might be wrong on Kessig Flamebreather.
First, want to see how everyone would prefer to see the decklists.
🧵:
AZORIUS
Chill of the Grave and Alchemist's Retrieval seem like premium interaction for this deck. It really gets in damage out of nowhere and suddenly, you're never catching up.
In the aggro decks, Minister continues to shine. 2, 3, and 3 to buff evasive creatures.
🔪: 1/4

Back from Vegas which means the return of the Mythic trophy thread from @17Lands players!
Today we have:
- what fueled Simic's big comeback weekend
- a trending synergy in BR I didn't see coming
- the one color that needed a splash to get a single trophy
Three out of four running Wedding Announcement? The card is a stone-cold bomb here. Crack a beer if you see one.
Multiple Ministers? Run as many as you can draft.
Drogskol Infantry continuing to look meh. Two decks with 0.
Shout out to the 3 Nurturing Presence deck.

Wanted to do something a little different this morning. Here are all of the Mythic premiere draft trophies over the last 24 hours from @17Lands along with some quick-hit analysis!
🧵:
GRUUL
Notice Witch's Web? I've been calling it "secret fight" and it's right at home in all four of these decks.
Snarling Wolf is better than you're giving it credit for and they don't mind starting a pair.
Even split on Reckless Impulse, a card I really like.

(THREAD) One of the great experiments in journalism is, for all intents and purposes, dead today. The Denver Post's marijuana vertical, The Cannabist, has cut all editorial staff and will replace them with bots. This is the story of stupid, stupid hedge funds.
(2) I started as one of the first "hires" back in December of 2013, brought on to review strains and cover the occasional event. There was an excitement around The Cannabist—my EIC @bruvs was fresh off appearances on The Colbert Report and The View.
