Charles III "received" the Honours 👑⚔️ of Scotland🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿today in a ceremony with about as much basis in Scottish history as Braveheart. It wasn't a Scottish coronation, the last one of those was in 1651. How did we get there & why was that the last one? A thread🧵#ScottishHistory Before the Kingdom of Scotland there were Pictland c.390-900 and Dál Riata c.450-850 (also other kingdoms but lets keep it simple). They fought each other a lot but had some common interests, both were really keen on a good stone 🪨, like this one.
