After years of delays, @NSF piloted LGBTQ questions for the US STEM census. The results? People have no problem with them. Yet @NSF still won't add them.
@NSF is Congressionally mandated to address US STEM disparities. LGBTQ disparities are no exception.

LGBTQ scientists encounter non-supportive STEM environments, and the U.S. may have lost 121,000 LGBTQ people who'd currently be in STEM - besides issues of equal opportunity, that's a massive waste of STEM talent for U.S. scientific progress
