You know in retrospect, I feel like the whole "leftist fighting for Rojava" thing, while understandable from a certain point of view, probably needed a little more thought and organization put into it. Seems very haphazard and ad hoc in the current day.
You look at the foreign fighters who joined the Rebels, such as the Uyghurs who joined HTS, and they had a lot more influence over military and political strategy while also having much better unit discipline and espirit d'corps than any counterparts in the SDF.
