A trader thinks that the prices of eggs are going to increase, and so he contacts his broker and asks him to buy 1,000,000 egg futures at $1.70

Sure enough, a week later, the price of egg futures is $2.50, and the trader, happy to ride his winners, places an order for 3,000,000 more egg futures

Next month, at $4.30 a piece, he pats himself on the back and restructures his liquid investments to buy another 10,000,000 egg futures

At the end of the quarter, egg futures are trading at $7, and the trader finally calls up his broker and tells him to sell them all

The broker replies: “To who? You’re the egg man!” No particular reason for posting this

Not just because I run an undercollateralised lending protocol, but more widely on the notion of credit scoring on-chain

Strap in Put simply, I think that there isn't really any bulletproof mechanism for determining a crypto-native credit score

Credora is currently the only game in town, and it suffers from an information problem: it only works if a borrower actually attests to all of the assets they own

I've noticed a new type of 'attack' taking place that makes use of Etherscan, and I've seen at least one victim of it today

It falls into that zone between lazy bait and sick genius, so it's worth highlighting for everyone

Today I noticed the Idex Deployer wallet moving funds around alongside doing other various bits and pieces (the reason I was looking is irrelevant to this)

What's interesting is something that happened in the ERC-20 transfers for that wallet

Impeccable logic, no notes Yes, stables are a great use case (stability of issuers to the side)

You don’t get to say that a native asset is trash and you’re removing support for it while keeping its major application - per your own admission

Okay, rare serious post for a minute because I have a bunch of non/anti-crypto followers and I’m getting lots of DMs.

The FTX collapse will be pushed as “a failure of crypto”. It was not: it was - and is - a failure of an opaque shadow bank. There's some nuance here in terms of the mechanism through which their insolvency came about (low float, high market cap assets; read "illiquid shitcoins" that counterparties accepted as collateral), but otherwise this is isomorphic to the Lehman Brothers collapse.

If you've noticed the state of Ropsten right now, you'll see that every block has a single transaction, with metadata saying "WILL RECOVER ASAP".

So, what happened?

TL;DR it's Merge/TTD related. Settle in for one of the rare few threads I'll write.

🧵 If you've been following along with the state of the Merge, you'll know that Ropsten is the first testnet to get switched over, followed by Goerli and Sepolia.

The Merge is scheduled to hit Ropsten *around* June 8th.

An update on the legal proceedings associated with the October 14th 2021 attack on Indexed Finance (@ndxfi):

A notice of action has been filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto relating to a proposed class action lawsuit against Andean Medjedovic. To the best of our knowledge, this would be the first class action lawsuit that has arisen as a consequence of a DeFi protocol hack.

This thread serves as one vector of notice (alongside Discord and Telegram) to the class of affected parties that a legal proceeding has started.
