Some personal news: After 4.5 years @Twitter my time has come to move on... I’m headed to Google to work on Privacy for Search & Assistant!

1/(a much longer 🧵 than I expected...) It’s been an honor to help build Twitter’s Health team over the past 3 years into a core part of everything we do… I’m so proud of how far we’ve come and love to see our plans become reality!

(also, can’t wait to try out this feature! )

1/7 We’ve been focusing on proactive initiatives to make Twitter healthier and keep people safe. A more holistic approach allows us to better address potential rule violations and coordinated attacks before we receive reports. Learn more👇 2/7 Our first goal is to improve our proactive detection of abuse to not rely exclusively on reports — we’re now at 38% for abuse and this is just the start…

tried a new schedule based on this book and it’s been amazing:

1. Appreciate need for deep work
2. Block 3 hours a day for deep work: 9-10:30am and 2-3:30pm. Other times can be used for 1:1s, etc.

Obviously there are exceptions but trying to stick to it. It’s been great... 2/ deepwork = more focus -> better decisions, better feedback + less overall meetings since there's less rework... however,

1/ We know there are a number of researchers studying Health-related topics – many for years and decades... 2/ We also know we haven’t always been able to meet the needs of the research community – our API doesn’t reflect additional spam & safety filters used in-app to keep people safe & we haven’t always made it easy or possible to get the right data to understand these issues

I often hear that Product Management is the intersection of 3 skills: Engineering, Product/Business and Design (EPD). IMO this misses almost everything that makes or breaks a PM. I think about PM skills as 4 layers as follows: 0/ 1/ The 4 skill layers you need to be a good Product Manager (ranked by importance) are:
* Mindset
* Getting things done (expanded definition)
* Team leadership
* Technical “Product” expertise

Spent some time learning how to use @SlackHQ -- went down some documentation rabbit holes. Here are the 10 most useful things I learned: 1. First - change your mindset: Slack looks like a chat client but it's so much more. Don't think of it as messaging or it will drive you crazy (this is a big risk given the sheer volume and velocity); use it asynch.
