The end of history is not multicultural solar punk liberal democracy. It’s the Matrix. Allow me to explain. Image There are a lot of things in society that are zero sum. Some are not, others are. The market is the system that emerged to get people’s wants and needs met. The problem of course is tradeoffs.

Tech free private schools and abstaining from tech will be a new class signifier like eating healthy and being in shape Already sort of happening where tech oligarchs send their kids to tech free schools, but you’ll also see a upper class that’s tech free while the lower class is totally consumed by scrolling, shorts, digital crack and eventually VR.

I call this the “Zillow Effect”

Seamless online transactions increases demand while supply stays the same. Applies to housing, job applications, college applications, used items, concert tickets, dating, hot vacation spots, and more They don’t do this because maximizing demand is great for sellers. They can raise prices and maximize profit. The Zillow Effect is great for sellers, terrible for buyers.

Something I don’t understand - if countries and borders are all fake, why does it matter if we have the best and the brightest ? The thinking i suppose is that smart people doing things here is beneficial to everyone who lives here. But if we don’t want to favor our own citizens, then why do you care if smart people do things here that benefit them ?

Fun fact: they once tried an experiment in a high school where they gave teenage girls a baby doll simulator to take care of in order to show them what being a mother is like so they wouldn’t get pregnant as teenagers. The result?

More of them got pregnant Honest to God one of the reasons many people may not want babies is because they’ve never held a baby or had to take care of it.

To be clear, Elon wants H1-b because heritage Americans won’t put up with 80 work weeks for 40-hour-per-week pay, at least not for long. H1-bs will put up with it because (1) they can’t leave the company without going home (2) USD I’d powerful so they can send it home to their family When he says we have a “lack of talent” what he really means is we have a lack of heritage Americans willing to put up with 80 hour work weeks and being on-call all the time for the same pay as 9-5 workers

A lot of people misunderstand what a nuclear wasteland would look like. It would not look like Fallout.

Major cities would simply cease to exist. NYC wouldn’t be a decaying ruin. It would be just … completely gone. In 5 years it would be a prairie of grasses and shrubs and in 20 years a forestImage If the bombs are ground bursts instead of airbursts it is much worse and the ground will remain sterile and lifeless for ~20 years. Major cites would look like gravel plains / rocky deserts Image

The funniest thing about this book and Robert Putnam’s entire work is that the main cause (tho not the sole cause) of the trends he is tracking is mass immigration and diversity, and this realization causes him great pain and suffering There are other things causing the decline in social capital which he covers - suburbanization, technology (TV and then social media), and de-churching and he covers these well, but - there is an enormous elephant in the room he absolutely hates acknowledging

The share of White people that vote Republican has not substantially changed in decades (except 2008).

Neither has voter patterns for any other race really.

Democratic voting gains are almost entirely fueled by replacement migration Image However, education voting patterns have shifted especially among White people. College whites are now more likely to vote Democrat than Republican, and non-college whites are more likely to vote Republican Image

High IQ austistic SWEs with luxury beliefs think society will be okay with their world altering AGI technology because they are incapable of thinking about people who are not like them, not realizing the average person is barely literate and thinks an AI dub of Biden is real People are stratified by class which is often correlated with IQ. high IQ T20 grads working at a FAANG company are only likely to interact with lumpenproles when picking up their shawarma from the DoorDash driver. Otherwise zero contact

According to some sources, the West did not return to the highest social development levels seen during the Roman Empire (c. 200AD) until the mid-1800s. In other words, it took 1,600 years for the West to recover from the Fall of Roman Civilization If modern industrial society were to experience such a collapse, how quickly could it recover ?

When people say “why doesn’t Gen Z date?” this is why.

All non-consensual, unwelcome propositions that might be romantic/sex-coded are considered to be sexual misconduct. Besides obvious #MeToo reasons, online dating also fuels this. (1) OLD fundamentally requires the consent of both parties for a conversation to begin Image

Image Reminder that feminism is a crabs-in-a-bucket mentality that drags down women and makes them unhappy

“Conservative women. It turns out they enjoy a 15 percentage-point advantage over liberal women in being “completely satisfied” with their lives” .aei.org/op-eds/why-con…
