This is a dumb move. It will be challenged.

"Operators to require ALL their subscribers to provide valid National Identification Number (NIN) to update SIM registration records... by 30 December, 2020... [after which]... ALL SIMs without NINs are to be blocked from the networks" In July 2020, Nigeria had 198.9M active lines. Guesstimate: 66.3M unique subscribers.

By October 2020, ~42M Nigerians had been issued NINs. Even if NIMC increased enrolment from 500,000 to 2.5M per month, current numbers will be 47M NINs.

2 weeks deadline? Make it make sense 🤔

Dear Nigerian youth, please see Nigeria beyond your nose. Travel. Read. Make friends outside your ethnic group. This is 2019 and with all the tools and opportunities available, you can't get stuck with assumptions built on myopic views of other regions of your country. Some of the tweets I'm reading about tweeps' assumptions about other regions of Nigeria show worrying ignorance. Yes, parents told you certain things about "them" but now that you're old enough, why don't you educate yourself? Tuck in your ignorance, grab a book or book a trip.

One day, I will write about the various characters that dot the Nigerian political twitter landscape, and maybe folks will learn a thing or two about engagement especially as 2019 approaches. Don't feed the trolls BUT don't miss the authentic engagement opportunities either. That day is today, so here's Your Nigerian Political Twitter Guide (2019 Edition). As we go towards elections, it is important to engage wisely on social media and spend less time fighting with people who won't change their minds or just need you to increase their follower count
