This tweetstorm is a mini history of enterprise middleware. It argues that the problems we solved for firms 10-20 years ago are ones we can now solve for *markets* today. This blog post elaborates on a worked example with @Cordablockchain:
medium.com/corda/process-… (1/29) I sometimes take perverse pleasure in annoying my colleagues by using analogies from ancient enterprise software segments to explain what’s going on with enterprise blockchains today… But why should they be the only ones that suffer? Now you can too! (2/29)

Thread: “What on earth is a blockchain firewall?!” Most common question I’ve had today. @IanAllison123 does a good job in this @coindesk piece on Corda Enterprise: coindesk.com/r3-launches-co…, as does @pennycrosman for @AmerBanker here: americanbanker.com/news/r3-launch…. But here’s more… 1/10 Think about big public blockchains: Bitcoin and Ethereum. How do you “deploy” a node? Install it somewhere, open the relevant port(s) and off you go. Works well: the node is eventually in sync with the network and you’re done. You can trust what it tells you. 2/10

A key promise of blockchain is “I know that what I see is what you see”. Deterministic contract execution is critical to this. Hence the from-ground-up Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) but there’s a problem… the world runs on the *J*VM (and CLR etc), not the *E*VM. What to do? 1/n How to empower the 10-million-strong Java ecosystem to bring the “I know that I see what you see” promise of blockchain to business without forcing the world to learn entirely new languages and tools? Answer: make the JVM deterministic! Sounds far-fetched? It’s happening 2/n

Great thread from @ercwl on the key problem enterprise blockchain platforms should be trying to solve: help industries move from systems optimised at the level of firms to systems optimised at the level of markets 1/6 This is a theme I was pushing on in my recent piece on the vision and roadmap for the Corda open network: medium.com/corda/universa… 2/6
