Yesterday I walked my graduate students through the life of an article—from drafting through copy edits and everything in between. For grad students who are interested or professors interested in incorporating this into their pedagogical practices, I outline what I did below. (This is no substitute for the actual exercise – it is very valuable for graduate students to see the actual reader reports, read actual early drafts, to parse through correspondence with editors. I wrote this article two years ago. Every few months someone on the right invokes "Judeo-Christianity" in some strange or awful way and this piece makes the rounds again on twitter because it explains how the term became associated with the right.
