CA Advocates for Nursing Home Reform has filed a civil rights complaint against the SF Dept. of Pub Health "for its discriminatory policy that prevents disabled residents of long term care facilities from having any form of in-person visits regardless of their relative safety." Basically, the SFDPH has told long term care facilities for weeks that they're gonna change their policy surrounding visitation... but an attorney for CANHR says the department has been dragging their feet, according to an email I obtained.

Will be covering San Francisco’s “Day of Rage” protests in response to Israel’s planned annexation of part of the West Bank.

The protest, which is a car caravan because of Covid, has about 180 attendees on Facebook. Clyde Leland, a former @usfca law professor and member of @jvplive, said he thinks Israel’s planned annexation puts a “death knell” on any possible peace solutions.

⚠️NEW: @UCBerkeley's Chancellor Carol Christ wrote two letters last night in response to a student government resolution addressing a Palestinian display that some Jewish students say glorifies terrorists.

INVESTIGATION ----- > Documents and emails I've obtained reveal that @sfpublicworks, the office that oversees San Francisco's infrastructure, did not approve a request by @usfca to remove an 80-foot hazardous tree. It then fell two weeks later. sffoghorn.com/city-failed-to… The tree fell during a storm on the night of Jan. 16 and did not hit any pedestrians or cars. According to @BartlettTreeExp Arborist David Hill, the tree, a Leyland Cypress, weighed between 60,000-100,000 lbs. Hill said the tree could have “crushed a car and killed a human."
