In Sept. 2019, Mark Warner (D-VA) former HHS Michael Chertoff presented dangers to democracy regarding digital disinformation. The symposium hosted by the Federal Election Commission Chair Ellen Weintraub, PEN America and Stanford Cyber Policy Center’s Global Digital Policy.

All of the key players set in motion the Election Integrity Project, that deleted, fact checked and removed social media posts they deemed Disinfo. Eileen Donohoe of Stanford Cyber Policy led the meeting. Later, Stanford would be implicated in the Twitter files and House hearings.
