Imagine you sold carrots, turnips and parsnips; you wouldn’t call your store “the carrot shop”. Folk wouldn’t know they can get turnips there. So calling it “the root vegetable shop”would cover all options. Then imagine the media reacted by screaming “YOU CAN’T EVEN SAY CARROTS” And you’re just there like “whoa whoa, relax everyone! Of course you can say carrots! Look, there’s carrots everywhere in my store!” and the media was like “this has gone TOO FAR! This shop can only be allowed to exist if every single vegetable in here is labelled a carrot!!!”

You know what has happened to me, as a lesbian? A man once threatened to break my nose when I asked him to stop harassing my then-girlfriend.
A group of men harassed me and my then-girlfriend and attacked our home for 10mths w/ vandalism and bricks (once a firework) til we moved. I have been physically intimidated by homophobia and misogyny at various points my whole life. None of it has ever been from trans women. My experience reflects that of hundreds of lesbians I have met. That article does not reflect the experiences of anyone I have ever met.
