twitter (or "x") locked my account for a now-deleted post from a member of the anonymous comrades collective who has since been suspended. the post had the name and city of the neo-nazi cartoonist stonetoss

twitter says it's doxing. it isn't by their own rules. here's why Image twitter (or "x," whatever, dumb name) includes a long list of what violates its policy for posting private information. it includes "home address or physical location information." this line, as you can see from the screenshot below, is quite specific: street addresses, GPS, etc.

Charles Bausman, a pro-Kremlin propagandist with murky sources of funding, tried to collaborate with core members of the alt-right as early as 2016. among his goals was a plan to bring alt-right activists to Moscow

my latest on Bausman’s ties to extremism splcenter.org/hatewatch/2023… in Nov 2016, Bausman attended an infamous white nationalist conference in Washington DC, organized by Richard Spencer, in which attendees threw up Hitler salutes

@lukeobrien met Bausman while covering the event, said it seemed like he was there to network

Bausman did just that

pro-Kremlin propagandist Charles Bausman fled to Russia after he entered the Capitol on Jan. 6

there, he's re-emerged as a political commentator. among his collaborators is a man identified as an FSB "co-optee" in a recent declassified report

my latest

splcenter.org/hatewatch/2023… in March, Bausman launched an online-only show called "Open Microphone" with Maxim Grigoriev, the FSB "co-optee." I'm not sure what's going on with the project (it's mainly on Telegram), but Grigoriev's foundation received Russian government funding for a project by the same name

i delved into a niche effort by a handful of american expats in russia to lobby the russian government to encourage US conservatives to move there. among its supporters are an orthodox priest who collaborates with jan. 6 riot participant charles bausman.

splcenter.org/hatewatch/2023… these expats include an american orthodox priest who has edited a pro-kremlin religious site run by charles bausman. bausman fled to russia in 2021 after appearing among the rioters in the jan. 6 insurrection and has a long, somewhat sprawling history, of radical right activism. new from me, @ColborneMichael, and @jason_a_w: violent white nationalist rob rundo was arrested in romania today, ending his long stint in europe evading US authorities. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2023… @ColborneMichael @jason_a_w rundo faces extradition to the united states on charges stemming from a series of alleged attacks at alt-right events in 2017.

rundo has referred to himself as "on the run" and compared himself to fictional character jason bourne. (he'd prefer to be james bond, he said.) Image

NEW: leaked chats show brandon russell, the founder of atomwaffen division, encouraging others to engage in infrastructure attacks in the several months prior to his arrest in early february.

new from me and @jason_a_w at @Hatewatch

splcenter.org/hatewatch/2023… @jason_a_w @Hatewatch the chats range from july to november of 2022, and show three accounts that we tied to russell sharing maps of US infrastructure (specifically electricity and railways) and PDFs with instructions on how to attack infrastructure to a tight-knit group of terroristic neo-nazis.

taibbi et al. can get mad about their little stunt being portrayed as PR, but no real journalist would take and then use a computer provided to them by a source as if it's a gift like this. nothing about this is ethical. and yes, weiss is an opinion writer and not an investigative journalist, but opinion writers still have to follow basic journalistic ethics.

rip maga movement, 2015-2022 lots of people seem to be misunderstanding this -- not saying it's gone forever, not saying its impact on the GOP is disappearing, not saying anything is returning to "normal," whatever that is. but it's clear trump as we knew him in 2016 doesn't carry the same power.

ok i’m watching the hunter biden movie already off to a good start — the leftist protesters sound like they were written by someone who hasn’t talked to anyone left of john mccain in their life, and there are strippers in the first ten minutes

.@CreedeNewton and i obtained documents revealing that NY’s department of corrections and community supervision terminated a corrections officer and identity evropa member for trying to spread white nationalist propaganda in the prison where he worked. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2022… john metz, the former CO, was active in identity evropa chats while working as a correctional officer for DOCCS. his termination stemmed from a 2018 incident where authorities found hate literature and identity evropa propaganda in his car. new for me @Hatewatch: former congressman steve king and current congressional candidate laura loomer are expected to speak at the annual american renaissance conference in november—one of the premiere white nationalist events. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2022… @Hatewatch this is the first time a former national lawmaker has been set to address the conference, though it's far from king's first white nationalist event. as i reported last year, he spoke at nick fuentes' annual AFPAC gathering. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2021…

one of the things that has made me even more deeply pessimistic over the past 2-3 years especially is watching people try and thrust themselves into tragedies for clout. whether or not they're doing it consciously is one thing, but it certainly comes off that way. it's partially a content problem: people who know what they're talking about aren't going to churn out definitive analysis in a breaking news situation b/c that's intellectually dishonest. (we also sometimes leave the computer.) you can't speak to facts you don't know yet.

new @Hatewatch: we've identified three of the main players — Sarah Cucchiara, Vincent Cucchiara, and Dmitri Loutsik — behind the pro-Hitler publishing house, Antelope Hill.

with @jason_a_w, @MeganSquire0 and @MichaelEHayden. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2022… @Hatewatch @jason_a_w @MeganSquire0 @MichaelEHayden the Cucchiaras and Loutsik have a long history of far right activism, dating back to their college years at Penn State.

nick fuentes’ white nationalist hoopla his set to begin in orlando any minute now. nick’s advertised two mystery speakers, which are apparently janice mcgeachin and paul gosar. gosar spoke at AFPAC last year. i will probably be livetweeting parts of this, so if you’re not into hearing about this sort of thing on a friday evening you might want to mute this thread.

new from me and @jason_a_w: we've ID'd "Lucca Corgiat," Rob Rundo's right-hand man at Media2Rise as one Allen Michael Goff. Goff's past includes a long and violent tenure in Montana's white power movement. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2022… @jason_a_w Goff has covered a range of white nationalist events throughout 2021, including Patriot Front and National Justice Party rallies, as well as more "suit-and-tie" events like American Renaissance's annual conference. (Yes, that one where Michelle Malkin spoke.) ImageImageImageImage

new from me @Hatewatch: Michelle Malkin's speedrun through the American racist right continues apace. In mid-November, she spoke at American Renaissance, alongside a former Klan lawyer and longtime white nationalist writer, Kevin DeAnna: splcenter.org/hatewatch/2021… @Hatewatch Malkin's letting American Renaissance reprint her work through Creators Syndicate as well. American Renaissance announced they were printing her columns in Jan. 2020. They've run about 40 or so since then. (Meanwhile, VDARE's run nearly 1,400 of her syndicated columns.)

i just joined an ivermectin group on facebook with over 26,000 people in it. facebook merely suggests you consult health authorities, but notice how the “join” button is right above anything you’d click to get more information. just joined another one. no appeals from facebook.

Kevin DeAnna, who met with Facebook board member and Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel in 2016, admired terroristic literature and provided an ideological bridge between suit-and-tie white nationalism and its more violent fringe.

New from me @Hatewatch. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2021… DeAnna, who Thiel said he "really enjoyed meeting," according to emails independently verified by @Hatewatch, was praised on the message board that birthed Atomwaffen Division as "the closest writer to our views."

Fuentes just announced that Rep. Paul Gosar is AFPAC’s “secret” speaker. Meaning: a current congressman is addressing a group of white nationalists tonight. days before Fuentes, the organizer of AFPAC, headed to the Jan. 6 event that turned into the Capitol insurrection, here’s what he had to say about Rep. Gosar’s fellow Republicans in office. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2021…

in our last round of "Year in Hate" essays, @MeganSquire0 and I looked at how Telegram has changed the white power movement.

“If [a group has] got a logo, a name, and an online presence, that’s three strikes, run for your life,” wrote one channel. splcenter.org/news/2021/02/1… in a similar vein, @cassiepmiller looked back at how accelerationism came to be at the forefront of the far right at the end of the Trump era. splcenter.org/news/2021/02/1…

please stop calling things a "new religion" when the term you're looking for is "social movement that i don't like." persuasion.community/p/john-mcwhort… Image once again, what you're describing is a strawman social movement that you don't like, not a religion. thank you. Image
