Books have played a valuable part in my scientific career. I ventured into biological research in the final year of high school on a project that was inspired by Phantom in the Brain by Vilayanur Ramachandran. The next book to make a significant impact on my scientific career 1/5 was the emperor of all maladies by @DrSidMukherjee. It is a book that is a must read for any freshman biology bachelor student. It shaped my interest in cancer biology, and particularly translational research in hindsight. it literally set me on my path up to a PhD. 2/5
