People who have zero training in Fiqh need to be called out for being a danger to the Muslim community in their commentary.

@mohammed_hijab is an ignorant person on Fiqh and has no qualification, doing takfir in Ramadan on people with absolutely zero und of judicial law. I call on @HATzortzis and @SapienceOrg and any other organization to reign him in and stop addressing issues he has no business talking about, or remove him as he's a danger and a bad example for the 100,000s of young people following him.

In my Tafsir of Surah Taha ayah 95-99 we wrapped up the story of Musa عليه السلام with Children of Israel and Samiriy

Some amazing points & insight that was relevant to our modern contexts including the following:

- People are misled via propaganda that appeals to their desires - The lessons of understanding how people are affected by their environment in assimilating to theologies and vices they are engrossed in

- The establishment of faith is through education not just only establishing punishments and consequences in a society.

The fact Afg gov has no route to petition leadership who is hiding, no route to hear grievances formally unless "you know someone," and no gov procedure to address concerns public - what do you expect the Afg people to do?

This is despotic behavior & history speaks louder. No one will be stifled because "security is more important" - war is over youre responsible for people's security.

No one will be dismissed at "look at what occupatio did and corrupt regime for 20 years" - can never dismiss the Afg gov's responsibility for its lacks.

Some Quran reciters you may have never heard about that are my favorites in this🧵: 1. My good friend, Umar Muhammad Al Qasim

"covered head-to-toe in accordance w strict new dress policies for education"

This is in fact not true
They wore it of their own agency

Afg gov already has announced they will not mandate women to cover their faces or wear anything in addition to hijab that is already normative When media publish slanted pieces of not even verifying facts like this, it makes it incredibly difficult to have integrity.

Is women's rights are afforded to everyone except for women who wear hijab and niqab?

I find it problematic we as a community demand qualification while we have twitter users and entire platforms regularly speaking on Islam without said qualification.

It's not a selective process.

Ask literally anyone what their qualifications are to make x comments. If someone's qualifications or teachers are "unknown" then dont learn or listen to them about what Islam means until you do

Du’ā of the Righteous: ‘Arafah

Prior to every day of ‘Arafah I would sit and read of some of the stories of the righteous describing their spiritual state and the du’ā they would make in ‘Arafah. It would serve as a motivation. ... Their stories would be a form of inspiration from the righteous of the past who came before us and traversed this life. Our Lord in His divine decree had their mention documented. ...

Some thoughts on:

"How it started
How it ended"

1. Hasan AlBasri said
"Jealousy will burn your faith faster than a body decays after death."

- If you feel jealousy pray for them instead
- know God has something in store for you as well 2. Be happy for people finding love.
Dont sit there and judge them.

It has become increasingly harder to find someone compatible because of people's ever changing expectations and wants, the internet doesn't help, and true compatibility takes time and doesnt have a formula.

Muslims:

We are enraged that the forbidden satanic music we are listening to mocks my faith.

...

Make it make sense. This music is itself offensive

Let's get to that core point and not talk past it. :)

A reminder for whoever needs to hear it:

Finding someone compatible has become even more more complex & difficult in age of social media

There's a ton of factors including personal struggles people are battling

Dont give irrelevant advice if you're not going to be a help 😉🌹 Some factors that make it difficult:

People's standards have changed from the days of random proposals coming to your house.

Social circles *in person* have become smaller

Covid hasnt helped

The internet in general is untrustworthy and to navigate it gives people anxiety.

Many theological concepts are taught to your average Muslim in a decontexualized ahistorical ideal

It becomes detrimental in lives of average Muslim who tries to make sense of how it applies in modern daily lives

Examples:
Archaic elements of Kalam theology
Al Wala wa Al Bara' Reliving in the shadows of our tradition or the confines of books that we constantly regurgitate without articulating a theology that responds to the issues of our time becomes a self fulfilling prophecy of stagnation and what AbulHasan Nadwi refers to as "intellectual sterility"

Don't overthink is actually a perfect response to people who overthink.

Look at the dozens of psychology articles about ruminating / brooding / overthinking and their psychological link to depression and anxiety.

psychologytoday.com/us/blog/open-g… Im absolutely amazed at all of the ways Islam helps temper our over thinking!

🔸Reflect over the benefits and the blessings
- of opportunity, garnering experience overcoming, blessing of it not being worse than it could have!

Some people are hurt and they cry,
some people are hurt and they laugh and try to show the world they're okay.

Give space if they need it, but check on both with reassurance and allow them safe space to vent. Some who've been raised in religious circles often dont teach or counsel emotional management

Psychology is not their forte so it's easy for many to be dismissive of the actual need to be able to learn how to counsel emotions

Part of being comfortable and feeling secure with your looks is not constantly posting pictures of yourself seeking praise, attention, or acknowledgement.

Those who know they look good, also know what meaningful acknowledgement is. There's correlation between ppl who have insecurities & negative self image w how much time is spent wanting to change aspects of themselves that one cannot change (without surgey or semi permanent procedures)

Dont accept that currency for worth is made to be superficial beauty

If "general Western concept. of life as a purely utalitarian proposition" (Islam & World, Nadwi, 104) is construct of what Muslims study in academia or their reading, they subsequently will adopt it as a worldview.

No surprise when all sacred will increasingly be made secular. Everything will be seen as whether there is tangible benefit and the root of the nafs (ego) is served through stripping every facet of spirituality for utalitarian morality.

A great article on the holistic concept of the call to Islam - da'wah, which is centered around the consciousness of God being the primarily internal rectification mechanism to societal.

What follows is a few of my thoughts reviewing the article: 1. It's easy to lose sight of the objective of an author when reviewing something. I try to maintain in mind the main objectives and not let an over reading gloss over or delve into a point interpeted in a way I may disagree with

I believe that the overarching theme was well put

Constantly responding to those who don't deserve response is spiritually draining, and practically fruitless.

while I dislike to sanctify him with response.

When Muslims were totally dominated by Mongols, small groups of Muslims got to work calling to the Truth and sharing the message of faith with others.

It was such a simple but astounding feat, that Ghazan, most prolific of the Ilkhan leaders, accepted Islam in 694 H Muslims won the Mongols over.

Not by conquering their lands, but conquering their hearts.

There's much to learn from that.

In a time when so many Muslims are in grief, they turn to outlets instead of calling people to Truth.

It's a stark reminder of our responsibility.

And the ironic thing is when you explain to people they actually have so much respect!!

*Especially* with so much work place harassment and off hand comments women get and they see someone genuinely respectful.

Those that dont like it can be won over with good interaction. Ive also found the people with the most negative perceptions and comments are.... other Muslims!

"we dont need to be extreme"
"we have to adapt"
"we cant do this in this culture"

Look if you believe in principles people will respect you.

Some who went into western academic/journalist/political spaces start to adopt progressive liberal morality.

The problem isnt the education, but that they assume they cannot uphold Islamic principles

Dozens go into western academic/journalist space & uphold Islamic morality. When some take stances supporting political/social causes thinking there is no contradiction our faith, it stems from a foundational misunderstanding of our theology.

The ultimate principle in Islamic theology:
is founded on Godly morality defining what is right and wrong.

Nutella-gate

Why @NutellaUSA needs to stop telling people if something is halal or not

1. *And pay attention to this one*
You're not Islamic scholars that qualifies to tell people if anything is halal

2. Halal means permissible
That's a religious ruling based on
1 3. You use 2 ingredients that can be discussed among scholars over whether they are or are not halal

Muslim Scholars differ over them so *you* @NutellaUSA cannot tell people its Halal

- vanilla extract
- whey from animal byproduct

Both of which I take the view is *halal*
