Labour is determined to leave in place a system which recategorized education from a benefit to society, to an investment system which *might* give individuals a 'return' in the labour market. A policy developed before the Financial Crash, which should have ended with that crash. As with everything else these 90s throwbacks, indoctrinated by Mandelson and his managerialism, the argument is that the systems we have in this rotten country, systems put in place under neoliberalism, are correct and good. But they're 'broken' by so they need to be restored Image

During my work today I met 2 people unable to work due to physical conditions and anxiety, a talkative pensioner who'd lost his partner of 20 years and kept saying he was lonely and an 11 year old with complex behavioural issues who called me a cunt. We need MORE welfare services Image My work involves going to different places every week and I get talking to people and they tell me stuff about where they live, how they live. I don't get paid for that, it comes about through the interaction that I do get paid for. Today was particularly rich in detail

A few times a year in the work I do I meet international students. It happened last weekend. One gated city centre apartment block. Small children running about, playing in the sun. What's the problem? It's that these cunts want to be able to "deliver" a target, a smaller number. They can't - won't - solve big societal problems. A dysfunctional labour market, environmental degradation, entrenched inequality rooted in the greed of extractive rent seekers. But they can reduce the number of children playing while one of their parents writes a dissertation

12 days later, will be going overdrawn again next week. Just had an email from my bank about getting a personal loan of up to £35,000 over 1-7 years "so you're ready for whatever comes next"

I know what comes next. The 90s are coming back. New New Labour and their Financial Services pals are going to turn on the taps for a new golden age of unsustainable household debt Image

This has the sweet tang of bollocks. These were local elections, low turnout as ever and the Tories were always going to get a kicking. The purpose of Voter ID was - and is - to disenfranchise younger voters and predominantly voters in urban areas in a GE. It will still do that. Image And the purpose of Jakey Streak-Piss is to pontificate and do his Evil Wooster act in order to get a narrative churning through the compliant media machine.

a) I wasn't talking about "creativity and critical thinking" I was talking about criticism. Being a critic of society, not facets of your "skillset"
b) Reduction of HE to getting Jobs/grants in your "field" and reduction *of* those jobs/grants is reproducing neoliberal ideology Image It wasn't a "Humanities are better" rant, it was "the people who reproduce neoliberal ideology in the press and keep pushing the same failed policy of turning all education into labour market training, are in part, doing it because a lot of opposition to it comes from graduates"

I've got to the point where I don't even think it is ignorance. It's a) what the Neoliberal Playbook says b) Malice.

These Centrist Thugs want fewer people to do English and History degrees because many people with those degrees criticise their instrumentalist worldview. Image The more useful repudiation of Sonia Sodha's Neoliberal Propagandising isn't really "don't you know this?". It's "This has been government policy and cheerleader's rhetoric since Callaghan in 1978. We've done this to death and calling for more of it shows you have no new ideas.". Image

Did a 21 mile walk. It ended up a bit too long and overly reservoiry. ImageImageImageImage Walked all the way here and was appalled to find that all the houses are actually made of conventional building materials. Image

re LRTs and this, if I was a "your regular reminder" guys, I'd invite one and all to journey back to 2009-2010, when The Guardian also heralded A New Era of Progressive Liberalism now that Neoliberalism was done. This included admiring Cameron and Osborne, the "liberal" Tories. Image Remember? Glover, Wainwright, Kettle welcoming the new age of Liberalism under Nick Clegg? Articles about Rawls like this one, obviously. In praise of Jo Grimmond. Toynbee on David Owen. The end of Thatcherites, the end of New Labour's "Top Down" centralism. The "Smarter State".

Well, this shows how ineffectual liberal "opposition" is then doesn't it? It is in the interest of "Business Leaders" and "Executives" to influence regulation, to have themselves appointed government appointed roles so they can limit the influence of government on profit making Image It's also in the interests - and has always been - of "Business leaders" and the Capital Accumulation they represent to have multiple roles across sectors. It's in their interests to override conflicts of interest. It's in their interests to override public protection. Image

I've got my council tax statement for this year. It's this year now. It's 2023/24 now. Right now. It's my council tax. Set by my Labour council. You can't "freeze it" because you're not in government and can't pass legislation and my council tax is set anyway. You pointless twat. You could "support working people" by promising to let councils build houses with affordable, long term tenancies. You could look at landlords who own multiple properties but only pay council tax on one. You could think about policies not just prices you can't actually change.

Piss off cunt Tedious wankers who think posting a list of things Labour said it did in government, which neglect to include things like PFI, massive increases in household debt, outsourcing, privatisation, embedding the neoliberal settlement and war, is a slam dunk. Fucking shitbrained cunts.

Its fairly clear now that Keith has tabled tepid and faintly ludicrous motion that can't be legally challenged but Labour MPs have been sent out to insist loudly that the "real" reason is antisemitism*

* or rather the "failure to act" as an individual to end something societal I bitterly regret having felt any residual sympathy for Ed Miliband. He's a coward, a self serving, dishonest careerist. An enemy of participatory democracy and social justice. He deserved the raw deal he got. He deserves the haunted look that's written all over his face.

He's been at the forefront of campaigns to support underdogs, victims, the marginalised, oppressed, victimised, fighting against the erosion of rights, the suppression of democracy, the suppression of socialism, the suppression of labourism. For decades.

So get fucked you cunt. Image I still don't think he'll stand against Labour. I hope he does. And if he does, it will be gut wrenching for him. But this place will be awash with Centrist dads and sundryothercunts pissing crocodile tears about "the people (of Islington North) who neeeeeed a Labour government"

It's obvious that most of what's written is nothing to do with a motion. It's just retailing a narrative to the people who leak things. Especially the sophistry that the 2019 Election (32% of the vote) is somehow catastrophic in a way the 2010 (29.5%) and 2015 (30.4%) weren't Imagine if the 2015-2020 leadership had put forward a motion to disbar all the right wing and soft as shit left Labour MPs because 2010 and 2015 were disastrous and Labour hadn't won a majority since 2005 and that majority was won by securing 35.2% of the vote on a 60% turnout
