They have been the mainstream for 2000 years. What you call the mainstream today is ethnic Jews who have stopped practicing Judaism, or practice a watered down version of it.

1. Why did you feel the need to throw in that Charedi Jews are comparable to fundamentalist terrorists because there were anti lockdown protests in Bnei Brak? are they comparable? @YehudisFletcher 2. When you talk about enquiries made by parents, you only mention superficial enquiries, you don't add that parents make extensive enquiries about the emotional suitability of prospective spouse? it suggests that the shiduch is a 'deal' between the parents, which is misleading
