Have had multiple people unfollow me, presumably because I publicly condemned The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its failures to adequately protect children from sexual abuse.
Let's talk about why it's important for believing members to be okay with doing this.
The Church is not just an institution made of policies and procedures like some sort of abstract machine.
First and foremost, it is an assemblage of people. It's going to have all the same problems people have.
And there is a problem with childhood sexual abuse in our society.

Black and queer people avoiding sundown towns is one thing
Not realizing there are sundown towns in New York state is something else entirely. And I say that as someone who was raised in Klan country in northern Maryland.
It's giving "I think disenfranchising entire swaths of blue collar and working class people in the small towns of my blue state is what makes me safe where I live."

What constitutes an emergency?
Immediate threats to life and body that can't wait until the next time you can see a GP, even if it's not your regular vet.
Examples:
*Not breathing
*Not drinking/vomiting/diarrhea to the point of dehydration
*Open wound injuries
*Eating solid or toxic objects
*Heat exhaustion
