You owe no one your existence on this platform, especially if it is destroying your peace.

Twitter isn't the first platform to crumble into irrelevance under the weight of incompetence. It won't be the last. No one owes Twitter success, especially now that it's owned by someone who deserves to be deplatformed.

When the alternative appears, as it always does, I will lower Twitter's casket into the same cemetery as AOL, MSN, Yahoo, Myspace, and Facebook.

Why do I have such an easy time being vaguely indifferent to things most church leaders say, regardless of who they are or what they want from me?

That's a fun story so I'll tell it to you. I was in YW as a teenager when the Personal Progress value projects were still a thing, while at the same time the curriculum du jour for adults was to study the life of a dead prophet.

Have had multiple people unfollow me, presumably because I publicly condemned The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its failures to adequately protect children from sexual abuse.

Let's talk about why it's important for believing members to be okay with doing this. The Church is not just an institution made of policies and procedures like some sort of abstract machine.

First and foremost, it is an assemblage of people. It's going to have all the same problems people have.

And there is a problem with childhood sexual abuse in our society.

“I just want them to do what they’re supposed to do and report to the police." Sexual assault victim failed by church leadership in every imaginable way. "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones." Luke 17:2 @Ch_JesusChrist

Black and queer people avoiding sundown towns is one thing

Not realizing there are sundown towns in New York state is something else entirely. And I say that as someone who was raised in Klan country in northern Maryland. It's giving "I think disenfranchising entire swaths of blue collar and working class people in the small towns of my blue state is what makes me safe where I live."

It's no secret that I've been living off the I Told You So I gave y'all about masking for COVID-19 back in February/March 2020. It has literally carried me through the pandemic.

Here's the version of it you need for monkeypox. Before we get into it, y'all should still be wearing masks for COVID-19. You should still be taking the same precautions regarding vaccination, masking, social distancing, and hand washing we've been doing this whole time because that pandemic is *NOT* over.

Hey y'all. Gonna make you aware of a situation involving a white LDS creator/influencer in the knitting/crocheting/fiber community who just got called out on her racism. You know, in case she tries to galvanize white supporters from this community to defend her when it goes down. Some of y'all might remember Kristy Glass from the I'm a Mormon campaign. Her video made it through the "We Don't Say Mormon Anymore" rebrand and you'll find it here.

I was at distribution to get some more Jesus Jammies yesterday.

We always like looking at the artwork. I was being flippant about White Jesus when my husband showed me this one.

My heart caught in my throat. Link to the artist: anthonysweat.com/relief-society…

Vet assistant fact of the day:

How do I know waken to take my pet to the emergency hospital?

What constitutes an emergency? Immediate threats to life and body that can't wait until the next time you can see a GP, even if it's not your regular vet.

Examples:
*Not breathing
*Not drinking/vomiting/diarrhea to the point of dehydration
*Open wound injuries
*Eating solid or toxic objects
*Heat exhaustion

Vet assistant fact of the day.

Never, ever give your dogs human medications that haven't been prescribed by your veterinarian.

I don't care what Facebook or your breeder says. DON'T DO IT. Some human medicines do translate into animals, albeit for different purposes at very different dosages.

Some human medicines are toxic to animals and shouldn't be given in any amount.
