Our comrade Mahmoud has been under investigation since last year because he displayed a poster at the Nakba demonstration that read "From the river to the sea - Palestine will be free". The Mannheim Higher State Court has now announced a comprehensive ruling on this slogan:
1. According to the court, the slogan “From the River to the Sea – Palestine will be free” is NOT a HAMAS slogan! 2. It is further stated that even if it were assumed that it was a HAMAS slogan, its use would be legal because it was done in the spirit of freedom of expression.

Yesterday, we as a pro-Palestinian bloc wanted to attend the anti-racism demonstration in Mannheim, Germany as POC, Arabs and Muslims. We were only 10 people but were assaulted, insulted and forced out of the demonstration by police. (Thread)
We were told, “this is not our theme,” and “leave now!” and in one incident told “to go back to your own country.” They allowed protestors to grab our flags and act as vigilantes to forcibly take them down, putting the safety of our members in jeopardy as organizers watched.

We often wonder how journalists are still standing, doctors still operating and people still trying to exist despite the carnage and extreme barbarity of the Israeli state. Well my husband tried to explain it to me. He lived during the 2008 assault on Gaza..
And understood the feeling of being alive only by chance and God’s will. He said that when you’re in Gaza+absolutely every single human feels and has experienced nearly the same trauma, your mind +body seem to adjust war as this new normal and puts you in a survival like state

Please someone confirm. My cousins are reporting Israel targeted and bombed cars on the way to Wadi Gaza- the supposed safe place Israel instructed Palestinians to go to. There are many dead. They just got into a car to go to our family in the south but now are terrified to move.
They are bombing civilian refugees fleeing the north of Gaza! It's a massacre, what is happening ya rab!!!

My latest article for @972mag . Palestinian refugee Zaid Abdulnasser faces legal limbo as the state aims to strip him of his refugee status. Why? Because he is a staunch voice against Israeli colonial violence. 972mag.com/abdulnasser-sa…
His story is not unique. Thousands of Palestinians are in Germany under what they call a “Duldung” a toleration status. Meaning you can’t work legally, can’t go to university nor leave the country.

I'm fuming. I have been sitting on an incredibly important story that is taking place in Germany and every major immigrant rights organization here has either ignored my inquiry or have specifically told me while my concerns are valid they won't make a public comment.
This summer, Germany passed new citizenship reforms except they included a portion that specifically says "those who committed "antisemitic acts" might not be granted citizenship.

I am very frustrated over this incident my husband told me about…
Background: although born in Germany my husband spent most of his childhood to teenage years in Gaza. He was there when there were still Israeli settlements and he was there during the 2008 war.
By 2014 he was a med student in Germany and was attending a meeting held by the German council of Muslim students. Coincidentally this was the same year over 2k Palestinian were just killed in Gaza by the Israeli war machine.

My solidarity is with Iranian women who understand this isn't about dressing modestly, but about state sanctioned femicide. About a state who uses one of the most beautiful parts of our religion as an excuse for the violent and cruel application of law.
At the same time, be wary of how the Western world (and even bad faith actors in the Arab world) will use this to preach their own imperialistic agendas of regime change (that got Iran into this mess to begin with).

After living in Germany for about two years now, I can confidently say that I don't believe I can leave the house alone without my husband or at least a family member with me.
Every single time I have in fact, been alone outside, I've been met with a racist German who takes it upon themselves to let me know I'm not welcome here.
