🧵'Gender critical' v 'Anti-gender'

A recent tweet by UN Human Rights chief Volker Turk stating that we should stand against 'anti-gender' narratives has been widely interpreted to mean 'gender critical' narratives. Elsewhere the UN has been pushing 'self-ID women and girls' So it's understandable feminists read it that way, but I think lots of people got it wrong and it made me wonder if everyone is aware of what 'anti-gender' actually means? There is a specific anti-gender movement and I think this is what Turk was referring to in this instance

A friend of mine told me this week she had been going to women-only swimming sessions in her local pool in Leicester because she has had a mastectomy as a result of breast cancer and did not feel comfortable in mixed-sex swimming. Most of the other women in the group were Muslims. One day a man turned up to swim, wearing swimming trunks - obviously a man, no attempt to hide the fact.

I am really pleased that the GEO has removed its logo from a schools guidance document which does not represent government policy or the Equality Act 2010. However, the GEO logo remains on this document, which was produced by Gendered Intelligence after the Trans Inquiry in 2015. Image
