🧵'Gender critical' v 'Anti-gender'
A recent tweet by UN Human Rights chief Volker Turk stating that we should stand against 'anti-gender' narratives has been widely interpreted to mean 'gender critical' narratives. Elsewhere the UN has been pushing 'self-ID women and girls'
So it's understandable feminists read it that way, but I think lots of people got it wrong and it made me wonder if everyone is aware of what 'anti-gender' actually means? There is a specific anti-gender movement and I think this is what Turk was referring to in this instance

A friend of mine told me this week she had been going to women-only swimming sessions in her local pool in Leicester because she has had a mastectomy as a result of breast cancer and did not feel comfortable in mixed-sex swimming.
Most of the other women in the group were Muslims. One day a man turned up to swim, wearing swimming trunks - obviously a man, no attempt to hide the fact.
